Dr. Rivera-Monroy research interest is focused on the biogeochemistry of wetlands, landscape and ecosystem modeling, and coastal management issues particularly the impact of aquaculture on the water quality of estuarine and coastal ecosystems; He also has developed approaches and tools that include the use of ecological theory in the restoration and rehabilitation of wetlands in tropical and temperate coastal regions.
